Pre-Independence Flags
The first unofficial Indian flag was hoisted in 1906 in Kolkata, featuring green, yellow, and red stripes. In 1921, a flag designed by Pingali Venkayya was presented to Mahatma Gandhi, which later evolved into the national flag.
